The vibes were undeniable on Sunday, August 23, as the Joyride Experience returned in grand style to The Memorial Field, 431 Garden Ave., Mount Vernon, New York, celebrating its impressive 10-year anniversary of bringing reggae, dancehall and sound-system culture to the people.

From 3 PM to 10 PM, reggae and dancehall lovers came out to enjoy what could only be described as a true Joyride from start to finish.

The 10th-anniversary celebration brought together some serious names in the sound-system and reggae community, including Stone Love, Little Richie from Jamaica, Chris Dymond from Code Red Sound, Sir Conqueror and RFB DJs.

And the people came ready.

The atmosphere was filled with the energy that only reggae and dancehall can create. Fans from across the New York metropolitan area came together to celebrate the music, the culture and the Joyride tradition.

The ladies came dressed in their summer finest, while the gentlemen stepped out looking sharp and dapper. From the fashion to the music, the crowd brought the kind of energy that made it clear this was more than just another event.

This was culture. This was community. This was Joyride.

A Special Honor for Lady Alma

One of the memorable moments of the celebration was the special recognition of Lady Alma, who was honored by DJ Roy of Irie Jam Radio, a respected broadcasting legend and longtime voice within New York’s reggae and Caribbean media community.

The recognition was a powerful moment during an event already centered around celebrating the people who have helped build and support the reggae and dancehall culture.
