VP Records Record Day 2026: A Celebration of Culture, Music, and Community

On April 18, 2026, the energy on Jamaica Avenue was undeniable as VP Records once again delivered an unforgettable Record Day experience. For those who have ever attended one of their events, you already know this isn’t just a gathering, it’s a full cultural celebration where reggae and dancehall come alive.

From the moment the day began, the atmosphere was set. Like any true New York event the morning kicked off with the familiar challenge of securing parking. After a little maneuvering across a few blocks, the team from askblondietv.com made their way in, ready to capture every moment.

Hospitality and Preparation

Before the music even started, one thing stood out immediately the exceptional hospitality of the VP Records staff. Their professionalism and warm welcome set the tone for the entire day.

My team & I got settled, equipment in place, anticipation building as everyone waited for the headline act to arrive.

Right on schedule, I Wayne stepped into the building.

The Interview Experience

The exclusive interview with I Wayne was nothing short of powerful. Insightful, grounded, and authentic, the conversation reflected the essence of reggae music and its deeper messages.

Sound Systems and Live Energy

Outside, the yard was already in full swing. Sound systems were set up and delivering nonstop vibes, featuring respected names in the culture including Massive B, Addies International, and Irie  Jam Radio broadcasting live.

The music flowed seamlessly, creating a space where every attendee felt connected through rhythm and culture.

A Performance to Remember

When it was time for the main performance, I Wayne did not disappoint. His set was filled with energy, passion, and lyrical depth reminding everyone why he remains such a respected voice in reggae.

Then came a moment no one saw coming.

Legendary artist Buju Banton made a surprise appearance and the crowd erupted. The energy instantly shifted to another level. Sharing the stage alongside selectors like DJ Roy, Killer Boo, and Massive B’s own Jabba, Buju commanded the audience before launching into his hit track “Butterfly.” The reaction was electric pure excitement, pure culture.

A Legacy of Excellence

Events like this are a reminder of why VP Records has remained a cornerstone in the industry for decades. Their commitment to preserving and promoting reggae and dancehall culture continues to resonate worldwide. Record Day isn’t just about music—it’s about legacy, community, and cultural pride.

Looking Ahead

My team & I was over joined be in the building, capturing the moments, telling the stories, and contributing to the culture. From the music to the interviews to the unforgettable surprises, Record Day 2026 was a complete success.

Salute to VP Records for yet another incredible event.

And as always “God willing” we’ll be back for the next edition. Record Day 2027
