South Florida is gearing up for a major cultural moment as the iconic roots reggae festival Rebel Salute finally makes its long-awaited debut in Miramar.

After multiple postponements, the celebrated festival is set for April 19 at Miramar Regional Park, bringing together a powerful lineup of reggae heavyweights including Maxi Priest, Mykal Rose, and festival founder Tony Rebel himself.

Originally scheduled for 2025 and delayed twice due to logistical challenges and weather concerns, the South Florida staging is now being positioned as a major cultural win for the Caribbean diaspora in the region.

Organizers say the move is not a cancellation story but a commitment to delivering the quality experience the brand is known for.

As Tony Rebel previously emphasized, the festival has spent over three decades building a legacy rooted in authenticity, culture, and consistency.

The Miramar edition brings together a strong mix of reggae royalty:

  • Maxi Priest bringing his global reggae-pop crossover appeal

  • Mykal Rose representing the powerful roots voice of Black Uhuru legacy

  • Tony Rebel anchoring the event with conscious reggae leadership

The selection reflects Rebel Salute’s long-standing identity: conscious lyrics, cultural preservation, and roots-driven energy.

Miramar, Florida is home to one of the largest Jamaican and Caribbean communities in the United States and has become a natural landing spot for the festival.

The venue, Miramar Regional Park, is already known for hosting major cultural events like the Jamaica Jerk Festival, making it a fitting stage for a reggae celebration of this scale.

City officials have also highlighted the event’s expected cultural and economic impact, noting the strong connection between the city’s diversity and its support for live arts and music.

Rebel Salute has evolved significantly since its inception in 1994, when it first launched in Manchester, Jamaica on Tony Rebel’s birthday with Garnet Silk as the headliner.

Over the years, it has moved across multiple Jamaican venues before settling in St Ann, becoming one of the most respected roots reggae festivals in the world.

Now, its expansion into South Florida signals a new chapter bringing authentic reggae culture directly to one of its largest international audiences.

This debut is more than just another festival date, it’s a cultural bridge.

With its emphasis on roots, unity, and conscious music, Rebel Salute’s arrival in South Florida reinforces reggae’s global reach while staying true to its Jamaican foundation.

And with Tony Rebel leading the charge, expectations are high for a powerful, culture-rich celebration when the curtain finally rises in Miramar.
