Reggae Legend Ken Boothe to Be Honoured in Jamaica Music Museum Hall of Fame

Reggae fans have another reason to celebrate this Reggae Month as one of Jamaica’s most cherished voices is set to receive a major national honour. Veteran singer Ken Boothe will be inducted into the Jamaica Music Museum Hall of Fame on February 27, recognising his lasting influence on the country’s musical legacy.


The special moment will take place during the Reggae Gold Awards, one of the signature events held each year throughout Reggae Month, a nationwide celebration dedicated to highlighting Jamaica’s rich musical history and the artists who helped shape it.


For decades, Boothe has been admired for his smooth vocals and emotional delivery, earning him a special place in reggae history. His music helped bridge important eras in Jamaican sound, from the days of ska and rocksteady to the global rise of reggae. Among his most recognised songs is the classic “Everything I Own,” which topped charts internationally and remains a favourite among reggae lovers around the world.

The upcoming ceremony will also recognise several other influential figures who have contributed to the growth and success of Jamaican music. Industry names such as producer Mikey Bennett and veteran performers Tristan Palmer, Pinchers, and Little John are also set to receive honours during the event.


In addition, respected musician Frankie Campbell, known for his work with the iconic Fab 5 Band, will be presented with the Minister’s Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his decades of contribution to the industry.


The event will be staged at the National Arena within the National Stadium Complex, where fans and industry figures are expected to gather for an evening filled with tributes, performances, and recognition of Jamaica’s musical pioneers.

Performances are expected from celebrated reggae acts including Luciano, Richie Stephens, and Etana, with live accompaniment from the Reggae Symphony Orchestra and Mega Band, adding even more excitement to the celebration.


The Reggae Gold Awards, launched in 2019, continue to play an important role in preserving the legacy of reggae while inspiring future generations of artists. Honouring icons like Ken Boothe ensures that the voices who built Jamaica’s global soundtrack are celebrated and remembered for years to come. 🎶🇯🇲
