Recording Academy®️ New York Chapter | Member Mix: Owning Your Sound

As a proud Recording Academy®️ member, I’ve learned that being in the right room at the right time can shift everything. Last night’s Member Mix: Owning Your Sound at the Recording Academy®️ New York Chapter headquarters was exactly that kind of room—filled with laughter, wisdom, and the kind of truth that reminds you why you show up.

The evening was kicked off by Nick Cucci, Senior Executive Director of the Recording Academy®️ New York Chapter, who set the tone by introducing Michael Bizenov, Managing Partner & President of Sound Royalties.

Michael opened the conversation by explaining how @SoundRoyalties supports creators financially without ever asking them to give up their rights—a model that empowers artists to grow while protecting what they’ve built. He then introduced Dr. Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson Sr., Multi-Platinum Producer and CEO of Platinum Boy Music Inc., and that’s when the real conversation began—an authentic, transparent dialogue about ownership, longevity, and the realities of surviving and thriving in the modern music industry.

@amadeuspbm shared that he first learned of Sound Royalties before the pandemic but didn’t tap in until the world slowed down—and when he did, it became a genuine game-changer for his business and his peace of mind.

When the conversation turned to the many hats he wears—producer, drummer, musical director, entrepreneur—the question was asked:

What would it take for someone to step into your world and manage everything you do?

His answer was simple, yet profound:

“That person would have to outwork me.”

That statement hit differently. Because when you’re purpose-driven, it’s not about ego—it’s about work ethic, excellence, and protecting your vision, seeing it through no matter what.

Leaving that room, I felt filled with laughter, inspiration, and fire. But more than that, I was reminded of something deeper: the importance of learning from those who’ve already walked the path. There’s power in sitting at the feet of experience—listening, absorbing, and applying the lessons of others who’ve paved their own way.

Sometimes God places you in certain rooms, not by accident, but so you can receive exactly what you need to move forward in purpose. The people you meet, the wisdom you gain, the moments that speak directly to your heart—all of it fuels the calling God placed in you.

So whether you’re a creative, an entrepreneur, or simply someone chasing a dream, remember this: pursue it with everything you have. Protect it. Nurture it. Believe in it even when no one else does. Only you know what God planted inside of you—and when it’s time to birth that vision, don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

✨ AskBlondieTV remains committed to keeping our creative community informed, inspired, and connected—giving you access to the rooms that help you grow and flourish as a creative. Take notes. 📝
