Dancehall artiste’s 21-track debut album arrives September 4, with new music, collaborations and a major London show already lined up
Malie Donn is preparing for what could be one of the biggest moments of his career as he gets ready to release his debut studio album, The Golden Child, on September 4.
The 21-track project, arriving through VP Records, is set to give fans a deeper look at the Jamaican dancehall artiste, bringing together contemporary dancehall, melodic sounds and street-driven storytelling.
Malie Donn isn't waiting until September to give listeners a preview.
The album rollout has already been building momentum with a series of releases, including “Golden Child,” featuring Squash, and “Van Cleef Pt. 2,” which was released on July 22.

Then came “Holiday,” released August 7 as the latest taste of the upcoming project.
The carefree track presents a lighter side of Malie Donn, built around catchy hooks and an easygoing summer feel. The artiste has described the song as being about taking a break from everyday pressure, enjoying life and making memories.
Interestingly, “Holiday” was reportedly recorded about a year ago before eventually making its way onto the album.
A bigger musical picture
With 21 tracks, The Golden Child gives Malie Donn plenty of space to explore different sides of his artistry.
The album features collaborations with Squash, Byron Messia, Antuwang and Javo Donn, among other contributors, adding different voices and perspectives to the project.
Malie Donn has also spoken about stepping outside his comfort zone while creating the album and experimenting with sounds that could connect with a broader international audience.
That ambition comes at a significant point in his career.
Since breaking through with songs such as “V6,” “Cups Up,” “Body Tea,” “7:00,” “Van Cleef” and “Dungeon,” the artiste has continued developing a sound that combines melodic delivery with the energy and edge of modern dancehall.
The Golden Child is now set to bring that evolution together in one project.

From New York to London
The album campaign has also taken Malie Donn beyond Jamaica.
He has been on a promotional run in New York, with appearances including Way Up with Angela Yee and Billboard.
The album release will be followed almost immediately by another major career moment.
On September 5, just one day after The Golden Child arrives, Malie Donn is scheduled to headline Indigo at The O2 in London.
The timing gives fans in the UK an opportunity to experience the new album almost as soon as it drops.

September belongs to Malie Donn
With new singles already out, a 21-track debut on the way and international dates surrounding the release, Malie Donn is entering September with plenty to prove — and plenty to celebrate.
The Golden Child will be available digitally and on LP vinyl through VP Records.
For an artiste who has spent the past few years building his name through singles and collaborations, the debut album represents something different: a chance to tell the bigger story.
And on September 4, fans will finally get to hear it.
Malie Donn’s next chapter is about to begin.
