Irie Jam Radio Celebrates 33 Years of Caribbean Music, Culture and Community

October 16, 1993 – October 16, 2026
33 Years Strong And Still Keeping It Irie
Today, October 16, 2026, marks 33 years of Irie Jam Radio bringing Caribbean music, culture and community to listeners.
For me, this anniversary is especially meaningful. I am proud to serve as Irie Jam Radio’s Social Media Director, a role I have held for more than 10 years, and as one of the station’s personalities.
In 2024, I also had the opportunity to bring The Melting Pod News to the airwaves every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It has been an honor to share stories, issues, entertainment and conversations that matter to our community.
Honoring Bobby Clarke

This milestone would not be complete without recognizing Bobby Clarke and his connection to the Irie Jam Radio legacy.
Since its launch on October 16, 1993, Irie Jam Radio has worked to connect Caribbean people through music, information, entertainment and culture. The station has grown alongside its audience, remaining part of the Caribbean media landscape in New York and beyond.
As we celebrate this remarkable 33-year milestone, we recognize the vision, dedication and contributions that have helped shape Irie Jam Radio’s journey.
Saluting DJ Roy

and Dubbmaster Chris
We also salute the talented voices who have helped shape Irie Jam Radio’s legacy, including DJ Roy and Dubbmaster Chris.
DJ Roy has been a familiar voice in Caribbean broadcasting, contributing his experience, personality and passion for music to the Irie Jam family.
Dubbmaster Chris joined Irie Jam in 1995,

just two years after the station began, making him one of its longest-serving personalities. His years of dedication and passion for Caribbean music deserve recognition as we celebrate this incredible milestone.
These individuals represent the commitment, experience and talent that help keep Caribbean radio connected to its audience.
33 Years of Caribbean Radio and Community
Radio has changed significantly since 1993. Technology has evolved, audiences have embraced digital platforms, and social media has transformed how people consume news and entertainment.
Yet the need for Caribbean voices, Caribbean music and authentic cultural representation remains.
Irie Jam Radio continues to be part of that story, connecting listeners with the sounds, personalities and conversations that matter to our community.
Being part of this journey for more than a decade has been an incredible experience for me. From managing the station’s social media presence to becoming an on-air personality, I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to a platform that continues to celebrate Caribbean culture.
Congratulations, Irie Jam Radio!
From me, Blondie — Social Media Director and Irie Jam Radio personality — congratulations to the entire Irie Jam family.
