Dancehall Own VANESSA BLING CONTINUES TO MAKE MAJOR MOVES WITH NEW STUDIO INITIATIVE FOR WOMEN IN MUSIC

Ask Blondie TV’s Artist of the Month, Vanessa Bling, is continuing to make major moves — and this latest chapter goes beyond music.
The accomplished dancehall artiste is expanding her impact with a high-end recording and mixing studio designed, in part, to create opportunities for young women pursuing careers in music.
Recent reporting from Jamaican media outlets says the initiative was inspired after Vanessa Bling saw a social-media video involving a young woman who alleged that she was pressured to have sex with a producer in exchange for an opportunity to record music. The situation reportedly stayed with Bling and motivated her to turn an idea she had carried for years into action.

Creating Access for Women in Music
For Vanessa Bling, one of the challenges facing emerging artistes is access.
Professional recording can be expensive, with costs associated with studio time, engineering, mixing and mastering. Bling’s initiative is intended to help remove some of those financial barriers for young female artistes who have the talent and determination but may not have the resources to properly develop their music.
According to reporting from The Jamaica Gleaner, Bling has said she will cover the costs of recording, mixing and mastering for qualifying young female artistes.
The initiative also includes a vetting process conducted by professional engineers, meaning the studio is designed to support serious aspiring artistes who are ready to develop their craft and music professionally.
Building More Opportunities for Women
The studio initiative follows Vanessa Bling’s previous efforts to create opportunities for women within dancehall.
In 2024, she released the Truly Gifted Riddim, an all-female project featuring several female dancehall voices. Bling explained that the project came from her belief that women in music should unite and collaborate more.
Now, that same philosophy is being carried into the infrastructure behind the music.

Instead of simply speaking about the need for greater opportunities, Vanessa Bling is putting resources behind the idea — creating a professional environment where women can record, develop and prepare music for the marketplace.
From Dancehall Artiste to Industry Builder
Vanessa Bling’s journey has continued to evolve from recording artiste to entrepreneur and music-industry stakeholder.
Known earlier in her career as Gaza Slim, she later reintroduced herself professionally as Vanessa Bling and has continued releasing music while expanding her involvement in projects supporting women in dancehall.
The new studio represents another step in that evolution.
In recent reporting, Bling described the studio as another home and her workplace, emphasizing the importance of maintaining it at a high professional standard. She has also expressed hope that future stars can emerge from the facility.
